Stand for the Silent.

Since I've talked about one movement today, I figured I could keep going and talk about another movement that I absolutely love!

Stand for the Silent is a movement that's dedicated to stopping bullying. This movement started after a young boy, only 11 years old, took his life after he was suspended from school for retaliating against a bully. It was originally started by a group of students at Oklahoma State University. Now, the parents of the boy, Ty Field-Smalley, go around talking to schools all over. They've talked to over half a million kids. That's a huge number. The movement really focuses on each individual. They inspire kids to believe in themselves and believe that they are somebody.

Be prepared to tear up... here's the link to their official video: Official Video

I originally heard about this movement through the movie Bully. Right now, it's on Netflix. I seriously encourage you to watch it. Have tissues by you when you do though. Personally, I cried like a baby. Bullying is such a problem, and this movement is making its way across the country trying to change that.

I am such a strong supporter of this because I have been bullied before. I got seriously picked on when I was younger. I used to come home crying from school. And I am just one of many. I love movements like this because it's something huge. Bullying happens every day. Too many kids take their life because they've been bullied. One of the children the movement honors is a young boy who took his life at the age of nine. That's right. NINE. Bullying needs to end, and this movement is a great start to get to that goal.

Here's the link to their site: SFTS. Go check it out. Read the stories, learn about it. Go watch the movie, Bully. What Stand for the Silent is doing is amazing and so inspiring.

In fact, it inspired me so much that I bought a t-shirt, a hoodie, and bracelets. And I proudly wear them. Because I stand for the silent. I stand up for those who feel they can't stand on their own.

I am somebody.
