Right now, we're watching World's Dumbest Partiers. We've watched about three episodes so far. I think it's pretty fitting for New Year's Eve. There will probably be a few new episodes coming out soon. I mean, people can get crazy stupid on NYE. and I don't really get why. What's the point in not even remembering the beginning of the new year? Or remember it because you puked your guts out.
I don't know. Maybe it's because I'm not a party person at all anymore. I guess I used to understand. Now though, I just don't see the point in going out just to get wasted. It's a waste of money and time. How embarrassing.
Side note: my mom's pomeranian is totally farting. My mom is pretty much crying because of the stank. I'm totally getting a fun laugh out of this. It might be kind of sad if this is the most entertaining moment of my night.
Hooray! Happy New Year's.

Goodbye social media.
Well, most of it anyway. I've deactivated my Facebook; I'm staying away from Twitter; and I haven't been on Instagram. Typing this blog is the first touch of social media I've had since last night. & I must say, it feels pretty good. I enjoy not having any contact to anyone, really. It has really humbled me. Only two people have noticed that I deactivated my Facebook. Obviously, I have a TON of people who care and keep up with what I do.
On another note, Matthew won't be here until about 11 tonight. so until then, I will be watching TV in sweats with my mom & her boyfriend and I will be reading.
For those of you who like funny TV shows of people being stupid, you should probably check this out:
This show is on TruTV, and oh my goodness, is it funny! It's about these four guys (Q, Joe, Sal, and Murr) who go out into the public with a headphone and they must take instructions from their friends. The last episode I just watched had them eating produce out of other people's carts in a super market, kissing strangers, acting as photographers to get tips, and interfering with other's conversations. It's too funny. These guys will do just about anything! And the loser after the challenges must do one big challenge (and it's usually pretty embarrassing). This last episode, the loser had to pick his nose on the jumbotron at a baseball game in front of over 7,000 people.
Yesterday, I read an entire book called Dreamland by Sarah Dessen. It's really good. It's about a girl whose sister disappears and then she tries to forge her own path, but ends up in some trouble. I've read it a couple times, and I really enjoy it. Now, though, I've started re-reading a Nicholas Sparks book. It's called True Believer.
I know that I've read this before, and I have a slight idea of the plot. But it's been a while, and so I'm excited to read it again. I know it's about this journalist who likes to "debunk the supernatural" who travels to South Carolina to figure out what these apparitions are. But along the way, the journalist falls hopelessly in love with the granddaughter of the town psychic.
Even though this isn't exactly how I had planned for my New Year's to go, but I guess it isn't too bad. I know that it could be way worse. I could be in the hospital or outside in the snow. So I'll just be thankful. And besides, I'm lucky enough that I get to see another year. (You know, since the Mayans were wrong, ha.)

Trapped.
I'm no longer doing anything for New Year's Eve, and I'm stuck working away the rest of my break. I'm more than ready to leave Blue Springs. I want to be back in Springfield. Grad school can't come soon enough. Matthew and I are going to another state. I hope these next two years fly by. I'm over this.

ABC FAMILY.
ABC Family is showing Burlesque Tuesday night at 7:30 C! I love Cher & Christina (even if she screwed up the national anthem). For those who haven't seen this, you should seriously consider watching this. The music is soulful, and the songs are catchy. It's such a fun film.
This wonderful classic is playing on Monday night at 7:30 central time! This movie is so hilarious. My mom & I used to watch it when I was younger. I'm pretty positive everyone knows what the truffle shuffle is! And if you don't, you should totally check this movie out. It's a classic adventure! I know this is on New Year's Eve, but who really goes out anyway....?

Favorite show of the moment.
The woman on the left is Jane Rizzoli, homicide detective, and the woman on the right is Dr. Maura Isles. They are the main characters of Rizzoli & Isles, a detective show on TNT. (They know drama.)
Anyway, the season finale was tonight, and new shows won't be on until summer. This week's show was so amazing. I get way too invested in this show. Sadly, it's not on Netflix. :( However, they always so re-runs on TNT. If you enjoy detective shows, WATCH THIS ONE. Angie Harmon (Rizzoli) is an amazing actress. And she's hot! Seriously, this is probably my favorite TV show. I love watching it.

Brave.
Tonight, Matthew, my mom, Tim, and his son Clayton, and I watched Brave. I have seen it before, but I was so excited to watch it again.
This movie makes me tear up every time I watch it. It's most definitely one of my favorite Disney movies. BY FAR. Did you know that they had to use two different softwares for her hair alone? One for each hair to move individually and one for the hair to move with her body. Personally, I looove her red hair. I wouldn't mind having it!
This movie has such a great story, and a great lesson. (As most Disney movies do.) I think my favorite part is the ending. It's not a typical Disney princess story, and that is special to me. Maybe it's because I like to break conventions. Either way, it's worth checking out - males & females.

Home is where the heart is.
I've heard that saying my entire life. "Home is where the heart is" blah, blah, blah. Until now, I always just said, "yeah, well my home is where all my stuff is" or "my mom's house is my home." But now, that's not true at all.
Christmas break = 1 month from school. I remember being in high school and wishing that my break was 1 month. But now that I have an apartment with Matthew, I wish I was down in Springfield.
My heart completely belongs to Matthew, and now that we have a home together, that's the only place in the world that I want to be. Being apart from him this break is driving me nuts. I guess that brings up another cliche saying - "distance makes the heart grow fonder". I always said that saying was bogus, but now I see that it might actually make sense. Not being able to sleep next to Matthew every night really makes me appreciate when he is next to me. It makes me want him.
And it breaks my heart that there are families of soldiers who don't see their family members for months or years at a time.
A girl I know told me today that I should stay as young as possible for as long as possible. She thinks I'm crazy to get married at 20. (well, I'll be 20 by then anyway.) She thinks I should be going out every weekend and going on lots of dates. But the thing is, I like being grown up, because it means that I get to be with my soul mate. (Yes, I consider him my soul mate. We were made for each other.) I look forward to growing old with Matthew. Forever can't come fast enough for me.
I guess there's not really a point to this particular post. But let me leave you with this: When you know, you know. Love is indescribable, so fight for it. Do your thing and do what makes you happy. And always remember - home is where the heart is. So follow your heart!

Horrible, but catchy.
Y'all should watch this:

Matthew showed it to me. Horrible, but catchy. & it's slowly spreading.

Current Music Obsession.
Their song Better Dig Two is just awesome! Even if you don't like country, you should give it a listen. Matthew hates country, and he liked this song.
You should especially listen to it if you're about to get married. It's kind of an interesting song for that kind of stuff. I found it pretty relevant.
Uglies, Pretties, Specials.
Since I finished reading the Host in no time at all, I decided to re-read the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld. I forgot how great the series is! If you're looking for an easier, and very entertaining read, try this series out.
Here's the first three books. I read all of Uglies (424 pages) on Wednesday, and all of Pretties yesterday (Thursday). I'm halfway through Specials today, and I'm tempted to finish it tonight. The basic story line takes place in the future. To them, we are called the Rusties. The future society is separated into two categories: Uglies & Pretties. Until one reaches the age of 16, they are Ugly. But at 16, they get an operation that makes the perfect. But there's a catch.
Luckily, the series doesn't just end with Specials. There's a fourth:
Sadly though, I can't remember ANYTHING about this book. So I'm actually really excited to get to read it again. I don't know what I'm going to do once I'm done with this series. I guess I could read the Hunger Games again. Or maybe I'll read Harry Potter or something. I can't wait to have my Kindle back.

What an odd life.
Tonight, my mom, her boyfriend, his son, and I watched The Odd Life of Timothy Green.
It made me giggle, it made me happy, it made me cry. It sounds completely cliche, BUT it really did get me thinking about how people are treated and how one person can completely change you. One of the main characters, Timothy, is different. He had leaves on his legs. But he's an amazing person. He changes people; makes them better. Timothy is one of those people that you can say you're a better person because you knew him. That's the type of person I've always tried to be. I guess I can't say whether or not I've accomplished that dream.
I must say, I thought this movie was kind of slow going for a bit, but I realized later that I was actually very invested in it. I hadn't seen it before tonight. I'm sure glad my mom got it for me for Christmas.

Game Night!
So, tonight, I went to Matthew's house to have dinner & hang out. After the delicious dinner, we played Quelf. For those of you who have never played Quelf..... I feel sorry for you. This game is so funny. If you aren't easily embarrassed, and you like to laugh a lot, BUY THIS GAME. I can't even describe some of the hilarious things we had to do. It's just such an entertaining game. From a Showbiz card, to a Stuntz card, to Roolz, and a few others, each turn creates a crazy time. Y'all should totally invest in this.
After the game, we watched a movie that I had never seen before. Apparently, it was such a shame I hadn't. Here's the movie:
For those of you who have never seen this movie, it's about these two FBI cops who go undercover as two rich, white girls over a weekend. It's actually quite hilarious. I pretty much loved it.
The other super totally awesome thing that happened was that I got my fourth bridesmaid! I asked Matthew's oldest sister Kira tonight, and to my pleasure, she excitedly said yes! Now we just need to ask Annika to be a Reader for us, and figure out something for Leah. And then all of my new sisters will be incorporated into the wedding! & did I forget to mention that Matthew's dad is officiating the wedding for us? I'm pretty stoked about it.
All in all, I'd say it was a pretty successful day.

Let's hope my wedding doesn't end up like this...
Last night, Sammie, Matthew, & I watched Bridesmaids.
As funny as I think this movie is, I hope my bridesmaids don't turn out like them! Of course, I'm almost positive they won't. Especially because none of them are like Helen.
This movie is definitely one of my favorites at the moment though. I'm pretty sure I can quote just about every line. Sammie & I were quoting it like no other last night. In the Bonus Features, we watched the deleted scenes. There was a scene where Annie went on a blind date with Paul Rudd. I would suggest watching it because it was pretty hysterical.
One movie I would LOVE to see again is this one:
Which, funny enough, the poses on the front look somewhat similar to the one on Bridesmaids. Matthew took me to see this is theaters. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it... but I really liked it. In fact, Walmart is running a special price on it for Christmas, and it's taking everything I have to not go buy it right this instant. If you like musical movies, WATCH THIS.

Finally, some recreational reading.
Now that this semester is FINALLY over, I'm going to re-read a book that I've been trying to find time to read since summer. The Host, written by Stephenie Meyer (yes, she wrote Twilight - barf), was really good, if I remember right. Since they now are making a movie over it, I figured I could re-read it. The movie looks pretty good too.
You can watch the trailer here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1517260/
I can't say that I know any of the actors, but so far, it looks like they may have done a good job with the casting. Although I'm not really a fan of the Twilight books/movies, I do really like this story. If you're looking to read it, I will warn you... the first couple chapters are kind of hard to get through. But if you can push through those, then you're set for a great book.

Some of my favorites.
Christmas time is my favorite time - and not because of the gifts. For me, it's a time of family and being thankful. Yes, that's what Thanksgiving is for, but for some reason, I reflect more around Christmas time. This year is especially awesome for me because I just recently chose my wedding party! I'm marrying the best man for me, and so far I have three amazing people in my bridal party. (I'm still deciding on the fourth.)
Here's my groom:
Here's my groom:
This picture was taken right before Matthew proposed to me. We met during RA training this fall, and it just took off. Matthew & I were definitely made for each other. Because of him, I believe in love and marriage again. For 3 1/2 years I've been saying I would never get married.... and look where I am now! Planning a freakin' wedding.
Here's my maid of honor:
This is Kristen. Our friendship took off last spring when some others fell apart. I know that no matter what, Kristen will always be there for me. And she makes the BEST maid of honor. I'm pretty sure that she's more excited than me sometimes.
Here's Bridesmaid #1:
Sammie. We've been through a LOT in the two years we've been friends. We met when I started working at Old Navy, and since then, we've had our ups & downs. In fact, we weren't even friends for a little while. But I know how important her friendship is to me, and I did everything to fix it. She's definitely going to be my friend for a LONG time.
Bridesmaid #2:
McKayla. We're both on SGA Cabinet together. Well, she's off to China next semester, but we had a great semester this fall. She quickly became one of my best friends. I can tell her anything and everything at any time. This girl has such a kind heart, and I strive to be like her.
Now this last person isn't a part of my bridal party, but she's equally important:
This is Sicily. She's going to be our photographer, because she's super amazing at it. We've been friends for about 8 years (or something like that). It's been a long time. College kind of separated us a little bit, but I know that, no matter what, she'll be there for me. Without her, I wouldn't have survived my parent's divorce. She was definitely my rock.
Now, I know this is only a few of the many, many people that I'm so blessed and lucky to have in my life. I wish I had the time and space to post something about all of them, but sadly, I don't. There's only a few days until Christmas, and I will spend them surrounded by friends and family. I think it's safe to say that my life is awesome.
Just a splash of me.
Okay, so recently, a girl I used to work with started a blog. Even though this girl and I never exactly were the best of friends, seeing her blog sort of inspired me to start typing out the random thoughts and ideas. So, here I am. In fact, this is me:
My name is Janessa. I don't necessarily know if I'm super interesting or not, but hey, whatever. I'm a sophomore/junior at Missouri State University. My major is Criminology/Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. I hope to one day own a restaurant that hires felons to help get them back on their feet. There's a lot more to it, but that's the gist of it. I'm engaged (which is crazy), and am getting married next July. I hail from Kansas City, MO, but currently live in Springfield. There's some basics about me. Yay!
